Econometric Game

Every year, the VSAE organises the Econometric Game. During this three day events, teams from more than thirty universities around the globe come to Amsterdam to compete for the coveted price of being the best students in Econometrics. Every year, the VSAE engages with professors and professionals to create a socially relevant case study, making sure that the case is both challenging and relevant for our planet.

The first edition of the Econometric Game was organised by the VSAE in 1999. From this first edition, the event has grown from a one-day, national event to the international respected three-day event that it is today. Competitive teams from some of the best universities on the planet have worked on cases helping the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa, analysed the effect of alcohol consumption during pregnancy and ways to estimate poverty levels using incomplete data. The event is truly unique in the quality of the participants and the socially relevant perspective of the case.

Since two years, AEO students from the UvA can participate in the Econometric Game during the Amsterdam Data Challenge. This is a smaller version of the three-day case, but challenging and fun nonetheless. At the end of the day, you present your findings to the casemakers, whereafter all students come together to meet their colleagues from all over the world during a delicious dinner.

The upcoming editon of the Econometric Game will take place from the 20th until the 22nd of April 2022.
