Short Foreign Trip 2026

About the committee

Every year, the VSAE travels to a European city with a group of around 50 students. In recent years, we've traveled to cities like Berlin, Paris, Vienna, and Prague. The days are filled with fun activities and a fantastic evening program. As a committee member, you're responsible for the entire organization of the trip. This includes choosing the location, compiling the program, and promoting it effectively. As a committee member, you make the short foreign trip an unforgettable trip. The committee takes up approximately 2-4 hours a week and consists of 5 members, including a chair.

Experience Joris Neu (Chairman SFT 2025)

In the second year of my bachelor’s degree, I had the honour of serving as Chair of the Short Foreign Trip (SFT) Committee. I applied because I wanted to turn my passion for travelling into something that also gives back to the student community. To me, university is so much more than skipping lectures, it’s also about being actively involved and connecting with your peers in a non-academic environment.

That’s exactly what I enjoyed most: working closely with my fantastic committee and the board, getting to know everyone better, and building something together. We began by letting each committee member pitch their ideal destination for that year’s trip, followed by a vote. The winning choice: Prague!

After months of planning, budgeting, and shaping the most memorable trip possible, we finally embarked on a four-day journey in May with a bus full of 50 enthusiastic VSAE students. Each day included a sightseeing highlight and each evening somehow ended with €3 pints in a pub, which might explain why some memories are a bit blurry. What I do remember is that it was an incredible time from start to finish.

I can really recommend joining a committee, especially the SFT one, to anyone reading this. It’s one of the most fun and rewarding ways to get involved in student life.
