Start-Up Event 2023

This year’s VSAE Start-Up Event was  definitely a success!

On the 5^th of June around 70 VSAE members attended this year's event along with six really promising Start-Ups in the field of Data Analytics/ AI and Econometrics. 

This year’s event definitely was a bit of a rollercoaster, but the amazing Start-Up Event committee made sure to make it a success! Starting five months ahead of the event they contacted tenths of Start-ups, , visited multiple locations and talked with a lot of entrepreneurs to make all of this possible! It was definitely a long process, but amazing feedback was received both from the students but also from the participating companies!

The day went a bit like this:

An opening speech by the Chairwoman was given and then every Start-up got the chance to introduce themselves to the students with a short pitch where they also presented the students with some working opportunities they were offering at the time. Let me introduce you to the six amazing companies:

Forward·Inc is an organization devoted to helping newcomers pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. Their network of experts, investors, students, and coaches from various industries serve as a bridge between both business and societal cultures in order to assist aspiring entrepreneurs. A lot of students can sign up to be a “Student Consultant” where they get matched with an entrepreneur and get to experience setting up a new company in their field of preference.

BrainCreators' mission is to transform human expert knowledge into digital inspection products using Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Their digital inspectors create actionable insights to support decision-making processes and can augment repetitive work. A lot of research is being conducted there about new ways to automatize processes.

Clappform offers cloud-based solutions that give businesses the insights they want. By incorporating all the data into one platform they help companies become more data-driven using Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning.

Whayle operates in the field of data analytics and technology. Their data scientists integrate their knowledge and experience with artificial intelligence in order to understand problems and help companies to sharpen financial, commercial and operational processes. They are a growing company with some working opportunities available.

TOP-Advisory offers actuarial support to large and small players in the insurance market. TOP-Advisory's apply actuarial and risk management techniques in the financial sector but also statistical techniques and advanced data analysis to solve optimization issues.

Stokhos is a company that wants to improve quality of life by means of mathematics  and computer science. It’s a science based company with a strong affinity with the medical emergency field and aims to reveal the human side to mathematics through their social impact.

 

After the six pitches there was a Speed-dating round, where the students and the Start-Ups had the chance to discuss more about the day-to-day business in a more informal environment as well as get to know themselves better. Those rounds were particularly helpful to both parties and definitely some interesting conversations were started.

Post-event, several students secured interview opportunities for available positions offered by the Start-Ups. Some even secured part-time roles for the year. The event was finished ( as always) with a borrel during which the students could chat more with the Start-ups that were interesting to them and of course enjoy some drinks in the sun.

All in all, the Start-up event 2023 turned out to be an amazing opportunity for students to learn more about the entrepreneurship world, get inspired by successful people and meet a variety of possible future employers. Definitely one of the most successful career events :) .
