Can you start with an introduction about yourself? 

This is Damla, I am twenty years old and from Turkey, first non-EU board member of the VSAE. I am in my second year of studying Business Analytics which I am very enthusiastic about. I will be responsible for Internal Affairs and Marketing. 

 

Why did you decide to do a board year?

I have been an active member since day one and thoroughly enjoyed VSAE events and committees. VSAE helped me to gain my closest friends and adjust to the university life in Amsterdam. I wanted to help others feel the same way. Furthermore, I thought this was a very unique opportunity to experience, something that you cannot miss out on. I wanted to broaden my horizons, try something new and gain experience in terms of working in a small team closely. 

 

What are your expectations for the upcoming year?

I want to have a peak at adult life while having all the fun. I hope to meet a lot of people and widen my perspective. Another goal of mine is to learn and improve my Dutch, I expect to be able to speak better Dutch. 

 

What are your responsibilities as an internal affairs officer?

As Internal Affairs, my main task is to conduct coffee interviews with anyone who is interested in joining a committee and finding the best suited candidates for the VSAE committees.

 

What are your responsibilities as a marketing officer?

As the marketing officer, I will be accountable for promotion and make sure that we are able to represent all the aspects of our association from social to career to the rest. 

 

What are you most looking forward to?

I am very excited to develop a strong bond between our board as well as our members. Obviously, the famous VSAE trips will be something I can’t wait to experience as a board member.
