Can you start with an introduction about yourself? 

Hi, I'm Saif, and I'm taking on the role of handling external affairs for the VSAE. I'm 19 years old and originally from The Hague, where I spent my childhood before moving to Amsterdam to pursue a degree in Econometrics. I'm currently in my third year of the studies, with a minor in programming. I'm excited to take on the role of handling external affairs for the VSAE. Looking forward to working with everyone and making a positive impact!

Why did you decide to do a board year?

VSAE is truly unique. With a diverse range of events, from career-focused gatherings to social outings, there's something for everyone. While you might expect an econometrics association to be dull, our monthly borrels are anything but ordinary. If you haven't experienced them yet, you're missing out on what makes VSAE so special. It's a pleasure and a privilege to be part of the team shaping and managing such an extraordinary organization.

What are your expectations for the upcoming year?

In the upcoming year, I anticipate a lot of fun and excitement. Our members are fantastic, and the sense of community we share truly makes VSAE special. In terms of personal development, Daan and I will be handling approximately 150 meetings with companies, so I'm confident that by the end of the year, we'll have improved significantly in this area. But above all, my expectation is simply to have a great time! ;)

What are your responsibilities as an External Affairs officer?

As External Affairs, I'll be the point of contact for all our partners, and we have quite a few of them! ;) I'll be regularly meeting with companies, with weekly meetings being the norm, especially during the busy summer months when we'll have over 100 meetings lined up. Our focus in External Affairs will be on organizing career-related events with companies, such as in-house days or even informal gatherings like playinh padel with a company. Additionally, we aim to ensure that our members are well-informed about post-study opportunities. To achieve this, we'll partner with companies to provide insights into potential vacancies and help you make informed career decisions.
